Cloud 9, Newtown | Review
Last week I mentioned that the weather cancelled plans to ferry to Cockatoo Island and we ended up brunching at Cuckoo Callay in Newtown instead. Post brunch we decided it was time for dessert, naturally and so we headed over to Cloud 9.
It may have been due to the rain and cold but when we arrived we the only customers so we got served by both the ladies working behind the counter who were super friendly and helped with suggesting things to try. One of the girls insisted we try all these ice creams flavours which is how I discovered serbert gelato. Its not a flavour I would have tried normally but it was soo delicious!
Cloud 9 is most famous for their gelato slammers. You can pick from there bases- brownies, banana bread or cookies. We went for the cookies, even within the cookies there are heaps of flavours. You then pick what ice cream flavour you want and if you want milk or dark chocolate sauce. I ended up going for a choc chip cookie and a maple and nut (I want to say walnut but can’t remember exactly) cookie as my “bun”, sherbet gelato and milk chocolate as my centre.
It all sounds sickly sweet but the light flavour of the sherbet went perfectly with the cookies and chocolate so the whole way through it was just deliciousness and by the end of it I felt satisfied, not sick. Would definitely recommend checking out cloud 9 (and that sherbet ice cream!)
