The Emporium, Parramatta | Review

By 7:05 PM ,

The emporium has a fully indoor area and a pretty outdoor (but covered) outdoor area, we were seated inside but try and get a table outside as it has a nicer vibe. The cafe smelt delicious and the dishes around me were making me hungry! I love a good savoury breakfast but was craving something light and sweet so picked the ricotta pancake with berry compote and honeycomb butter and the deconstructed iced chocolate just because I was curious.
Emporium allows for bookings for brunch (which runs until 3pm!) which I think all cafes should do. Today I drove to a cafe 30 minutes from home to be told the wait would be at least 45 minutes. Be and everyone behind me in the line to be in the line immediately went elsewhere- take bookings cafe so we don't have to gamble that we can be seated! Rant aside, having a booking meant we were seated straight away.

The deconstructed iced chocolate arrived first, a glass of milk with ice, a shot of thick chocolate and a shot of syrup. My friend ordered the same, and although my chocolate was so thick it was hard to pour, hers was smooth and poured easily. It was nice but aside from the fact that it came deconstructed wasn't anything special considering it was double the price of a regular iced chocolate elsewhere.

By the time I had constructed by iced chocolate my pancakes arrived. They were soft and delicious and the compote was nice but after my first pancake it felt all the same and I wish I could get a side of maple syrup or has ordered the Sauteed mushrooms with hummus, kale and poached eggs as my friends has because from the taste I had was nice and had varied flavours.
